Gyno-Daktarin is an antifungal medication designed to treat common fungal infections such as vaginal thrush. The cream is inserted directly into the vagina to help ease symptoms of:
Gyno-Daktarin contains an active ingredient called Miconazole nitrate, which belongs to a class of medicines known as antifungals.
It can be used by itself, or in conjunction with oral tablets like Fluconazole.
Miconazole nitrate, the active ingredient in Gyno-Daktarin, works by killing the candida fungal cells that are responsible for causing the vaginal yeast infection.
Miconazole stops the fungi in the vagina from producing a substance called ergosterol, which is vital for the survival of its cells. Without ergosterol, the cell membrane starts to break down and cause damage to the cell.
Eventually, this causes the fungi cells to be destroyed - helping your body’s immune system fight off the fungal infection completely.
Gyno-Daktarin also targets certain bacteria that may worsen a thrush infection, providing it with a dual purpose.
As well as clearing the uncomfortable symptoms of thrush, Gyno-Daktarin has several benefits:
