Evorel conti patches are used for preparing hormone replacement therapy. Each patch contains two active ingredients, estradiol hemihydrate and norethisterone acetate. These active ingredients are forms of the main female sex hormones, oestrogen and progesterone.
The rate in which the ovaries produce oestrogen, decreases gradually over the period leading up to menopause. This may cause oestrogen levels to decline as a result. Deteriorating levels of oestrogen can cause distressing symptoms, such as irregular periods, hot flushes, night sweats, mood swings and vaginal dryness or itching.
Estradiol hemihydrate is given to the patient as a supplement to replace the declining levels of oestrogen in the body and helps to make the distressing symptoms of menopause more tolerable. This is known as hormone replacement therapy. Hormone replacement therapy should be reviewed once a year by your doctor and is only required for a short-term relief from menopause.
For women who dislike or find it difficult to take tablets, Evorel provides an alternative in the form of a patch. Evorel Conti supplies hormones via the skin into the body to increase oestrogen levels and reduce symptoms such as vaginal dryness, mood swings and hot flushes, all which can develop when a woman is beginning the menopause.
Evorel Conti patches contain the two active ingredients estradiol and norethisterone, both of which are forms of the female hormones oestrogen and progesterone. These patches work to supply the body with oestrogen, which significantly drops during the menopausal stage, and helps to reduce any symptoms that can occur during the menopause.
Evorel Conti patches are suitable for postmenopausal women aged between 40 and 60 (but ideally up to their mid fifties) who still have a womb. If you are allergic to any of the ingredients found in Evorel Conti, it is advised that you do not take these medications. Likewise this medication is not suitable if you have a history of breast cancer, cancer of the womb, fibroids in the womb, unexplained vaginal bleeding, blood clots, heart attack, angina, history of liver disease or blood disorders (porphyrias), or are pregnant or breastfeeding.
Evorel Conti patches should be applied to dry, clean skin and placed on a slightly different area of the skin when changed. Evorel Conti is a continuous HRT medication that is required to be changed twice a week; a patch is worn for three to four days and then replaced by a new one.
Subsequent courses are repeated without interval. It is important to take this medication as prescribed by your doctor. If the patch falls off it should be replaced as soon as possible. If the patch falls off while bathing or showering you must replace the patch once your skin has dried. If you forget to replace a patch it is recommended that you change it as soon as possible and keep to the original ‘patch change’ days.
It is of utmost importance to be completely open and honest when discussing the medicines that you're taking during your online consultation. Your doctors or local pharmacy will be able to advise you on which medicines will have a negative affect on your body when collaborated with Evorel Conti.
